This study, conducted by UDIH – a hub for the digitization of public utilities, aims to outline the current state of digital maturity in the water utilities sector in Bulgaria. Based on surveys and interviews with 19 water and sanitation operators, the report tracks the degree of strategic and technological readiness for digitalisation.
The results reveal significant variability in approach and progress – from companies with clearly formulated strategies and real investments in digital solutions to operators where the topic of digitalisation is little known or completely absent. The study covers the implementation of key technologies such as SCADA, GIS, AMI, ERP, and others, as well as organizational culture and vision for digital development. It serves as a starting point for assessing the maturity of the sector and as a basis for formulating guidelines for future policies and investments.
We recommend all interested parties – water operators, institutions, technology providers, and consultants, to download the full report and to learn more about the results and the best practices.
